Hiking and Adventure in the grand staircase

Near Escalante

Ahh yes, the Escalante Canyons.  The goal and destination for many looking to grasp the concept of the quitesential colorado plateau wilderness experience.  With the Escalante River as its blood, the side canyons of the Escalante offer years worth of return visits to explore hidden or forgotton nooks and fixtures full of Anasazi dwellings, rock art, and verdant springs.

We have three types of hikes to choose from in the area.  Aquatic hikes, usually reserved for the hottest times of the year.  These hikes require wading.  Sometimes short swimming holes exist.  The second kind of hikes we have are Slot Canyon hikes.  These hikes are a full body work out, slot canyons eat clothing so don’t wear your brand new Arcteryx clothing on this hike.  Please note, due to weather concerns in slot canyons, we reserve the right to cancel any slot canyon hike due to the flash flood danger.  This is quite common during the rainy late summers.  The third type of hike we offer in the Escalante canyons are what we call the big view hikes.  These offer our clients the opportunities to view large arches, grand slickrock views, etc.  One such place called Phipps arch, offers us grand views of the canyon, as well as intimate views of some special Anasazi grainaries. and rock art panels.

The Dump, why would we name it that?
