Canyoneering Escalante

Due to the nature of the Escalante area, it has become apparent that there is a need for ropes if you wish to travel in certain areas.  If you wish to travel cross country in this area, and you don’t bring a rope and knowledge of how to use said rope, you may find yourself ledged up or trapped in a slot.  Neither scenario is a good one.  Talking about canyoneering in Escalante with the exception of a couple of different canyons can get you blacklisted from the canyoneering community in the area.  A guide or two has kept his secrets quite safe.  While I know this guides secrets quite well, it is not my intention to give away any secret guiding areas.  I understand as a guide the need to give your clients solace and the feeling of true wilderness.  Too many footsteps, or a too-well trodden path detracts from the experience these guides are trying to give their clients.  In divulging these canyons, my intentions are simple.  If you are a canyoneer, and you know how to explore without the need of bolts then come to Escalante, we would love to have you.  Nothing I am sharing isn’t found in other websites or guide books.
