Roads

Good News!  The county’s that share land with the Grand Staircase have ended their disputes and are beginning to grade the roads again.  This means that the Cottonwood road, Hole in the Rock, Skutumpah, and even Smokey Mountain Road will all be graded this year.  This will probably change the road ratings to high clearance two wheel drive in many places.

Understand that many of the roads out here can become impassible with just one storm.  Always carry extra water, food, and gas when heading out across these desolate roads.  We offer shuttle services to people with low clearance vehicles.  Please check current road conditions at one of the 4 visitor centers located around the monument.
